My mom is 77 and lives in Florida with an auto-immune disease. Normally a vibrant and active retiree, she is having a hard time living alone during this crisis. This week is her birthday and instead of sending flowers, I decided to put together a boredom busting care package. I was able to find a bunch of items to send for around $50, which is what I would have paid for flowers.

Game Books With Humor

Another great time killer is game books, Sudoku, word search, crosswords and even dot-to-dot are my favorites. But how about adding a bit of humor while you play?

Coloring Books For Relaxing

Coloring has the ability to relax the fear center of your brain, the amygdala. It induces the same state as meditating by reducing the thoughts of a restless mind. By creating mindfulness and quietness, you will be better able to rest after a long day of watching virus news. Picking books with and uplifting theme will also help to center you spiritually.

Soul Feeding Books

While we talking about centering the soul, why not throw in a book to help with that. I have listed a couple of favorites below.

Hopefully, the items above will inspire you to create your vary own quarantine care package to send to someone you know in need of some joy. Remember , we are all in this together and we need to reach out and do what we can.
